What do Printmakers do all day?

An exposition extraordinaire!

Lindsey and Iain - Printmakers of L'Atelier11

Launched on 26 September 2025, the exhibition continues in L’Atelier11’s Gallery until our Christmas break.

Iain and Lindsey first met when Iain joined Milton Keynes Printmakers; then a regional centre of excellence, now closed, where Lindsey was already a member.

They bonded over their love of texture in their prints and previous similar work experiences in health and community care.

They approach printmaking, especially Collagraphs, in completely different ways yet their work compliments each other, and they exhibited together for many years before opening L’Atelier11.

Iain often uses carborundum, mark making and glues to create a Collagraph plate, in particular adding colour with Chine Collé.

Lindsey collects and presses natural materials, upcycling pizza bases and card offcuts as plates and adds string or the strands left from when she makes Lino prints. She enjoys adding greater interest with hand gilding.

Both mix and match processes sharing in the joy of the infinite variety printmaking offers.

Often asked about their print processes, they decided to create an exhibition focussing on the techniques they use, which included a brief synopsis of their methodology:

L'Atelier11 is open 1-5pm Thursdays and Fridays until 19 December 2025 with a special opening on Saturday 29 November, 11-4pm.
